Here are the official results for the OPEN foil event of the Salem Classical Fencing
Spring Invitational Tournament, held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the
Salem Family YMCA in Salem, Oregon.
This event was open to all fencers, regardless of fencing experience. Fencers ranged in age from
12 years old to 50-somethings.

Additional Awards
The "Don't Touch Me" Award -- given to the fencer who receives
the fewest touches per bout fought (i.e. they have a very solid all-around defense). (Direct
elimination bouts count as three bouts for averaging purposes.)
The "Don't Tread On Me" Award -- given to the fencer who receives
the fewest touches per bout won (i.e. they maintain a very solid defense
even when they are winning). (Direct elimination bouts count as three bouts for
averaging purposes.)
The Duelist Award -- given to those rare fencers who win first place
in the individual event and who win the "Don't Touch Me" award and
who win the "Don't Tread On Me" award. Completing all three of
these tasks is quite difficult, so the award is only infrequently made.
