Awards

Individual events
Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place

Honorable Mention – The officials may, at their discretion, make honorable mention of a particular fencer for best form, sportsmanship, etc.

The "Don't Touch Me" Award -- given to the fencer who receives the fewest touches per bout fought (i.e. they have a very solid all-around defense).

The "Don't Tread On Me" Award -- given to the fencer who receives the fewest touches per bout won (i.e. they maintain a very solid defense even when they are winning).

The Duelist Award -- given to those rare fencers in a Junior-level (or higher) SCF tournament who win first place in an individual event and who win the "Don't Touch Me" award and who win the "Don't Tread On Me" award. Completing all three of these tasks is quite difficult, so the award is only infrequently given.

Team events
Medals for team members of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams

All fencers will receive the satisfaction of doing their best and promoting an excellent sport.

It is very important that you be on time! We will have many bouts to fence.

Although this is a tournament, and it should be fenced competitively, remember that fencing is a sport of honor, respect, and sportsmanship. No matter how well (or poorly) you do, remember that only a few weeks or month ago, none of you could fence. The mere fact that you can fence at all is an achievement in and of itself.

Rather than a test of you against another fencer, let this competition be a test of you against yourself.

Simply strive to do your best. And have fun!
